   Leanne - Sydney - Australia I have just returned from having surgery in Malaysia and felt I really wanted to tell people about my experience. I have learned so much about the quality of care when choosing to go abroad for surgery. I inquired through Health Horizon Holidays and also another company because I had seen their name around a lot but have to say I was shocked at the treatment I received from the other company and would hope no-one else experiences such rudeness. Having said that, I have had the best experience all thanks to Health Horizon Holidays and their team of hospitals, surgeons and accommodation. From the first email through to surgery and healing and home again, they have handled my Surgery Holiday brilliantly. We stayed at the prince Apartment right in the heart of town and we stayed the required 3 weeks, it was fabulous. I think the greatest thing we enjoyed was the proximity to everything but having the privacy of an apartment to relax in. The staff at prince were very kind and considerate, even coming to check on me on my last day that I was healing well. Even the porter asked how I was feeling. The hospital was amazing, just like a 5 star hotel and a lounge were we could do all the paperwork before admission. I don’t think I have ever seen the quality and modern equipment anywhere at home like what was available for us in Malaysia. If anyone is seeking extremely high quality surgery abroad with a brilliant way to heal and feel good again, make this trip. Health Horizon Holidays are brilliant! Tummy Tuck - Breast Augmentation & Lift - Liposuction  At the age of 28 I found myself divorced with 3 children (aged 3, 5 and 7)and no time for myself or extra money for luxuries. I spent the next 10 years working, studying and bringing up my children. I worked as a shop assistant for 2 years and studied at TAFE basic office skills. I managed to get a job in a large Solicitors firm doing clerical work. The years were extremely tough and I admire anyone who has been in this position and has survived. Over those 10 years my weight ballooned and my self confidence dimmed.
At 38 I met the love of my life who just loved me just the way I was, there was only one problem, I didn’t love me just the way I was. So, at 40 I was getting married again, I was so happy, fat, tired looking and a bit frayed around the edges, but happy to be married to the greatest man ever. Though I had always felt really cheated as my young years were spent working and single. The moment I fell in love with the most perfect man in the world I wanted so much to be attractive to him. Maybe that sounds fickle and I know everyone says if you choose to have Cosmetic Surgery you should do it for yourself, well , the thing is, I did want it for myself. I wanted to feel good again, I wanted to feel attractive again, I didn’t want to look 21 but I did wanted to be an attractive woman in her forties. We’ve been married now 8 years and it has always been my dream to have a bit of surgery. With the support of my husband who didn’t care either way; I embarked on my journey of discovery and finding a suitable surgeon. I had consultations with 3 Surgeons in Australia and there was no way I could have what I wanted done at a price I could afford, so I began looking up overseas possibilities. I looked at heading to South America and to India and Thailand and Malaysia. In my search I came across Health Horizon Holidays. The prices weren’t as cheap as some other countries but weighing up the pros and cons; Malaysia was a good choice. The language spoken is English so I could discuss my surgery with the Surgeon in English; BIG ADVANTAGE; and also the country was modern and easy for a foreigner. I booked my surgery with Dr Jalil through Health Horizon’s. I just booked our airfares and left the rest to them. We arrived late at night and were met by the Health Horizon chauffeur and he is a dear man, thank you Mr Lo for your service. At the hotel a representative of Health Horizon assisted us with check in so it all ran smoothly and organized for us to be picked up the next morning for my consultation. We met Dr Jalil in his rooms the next morning and, I have to say, I was very impressed. I had googled Dr Jalil before deciding on him and there were so many reports about him, praising him and speaking so well of him; and let me tell you every word of it is true. Every single word. The next day I had my surgery - Facelift/Neck Lift/Tummy Tuck / Breast Lift and Augmentation / liposuction to hips. They say Dr Jalil is the King of multiple surgeries and now I agree. You have to meet him to understand, my husband and I really fell in love with this man. And he did a great job. Like all surgery it wasn’t painless but its wasn’t horrendous either - it’s all just part of the process and I have no regrets. Health Horizon Holidays did a great job, professional, caring, easy to contact, really helpful when my husband wanted to buy some Golf supplies and also assisting us to get away for a few days to Avillion Resort which was tremendous. They even asked their chauffeur, Mr Lo, to drive us down there. I know people have strong opinions on whether they would travel for surgery or not. I have listened to them all before I left; but not a word of it is true - just have a great company organize everything for you - choose an excellent surgeon and you will never regret it. Bernadette My husband and I started looking around and talking to friends about travelling for Surgery. We investigated many companies on the internet, including American owned companies and we found alot of differences in what you got. We asked to speak with past clients of about 3 companies and had some very good advice. He answered all our questions, in terms we understood, his bedside manner could not be faulted. He is genuine caring human being. We were in Malaysia for 4 weeks in total, spending the last 2 weeks at Sutera Harbour Resort. The surgery went off without any problems and I felt very good in the first week especially with the nursing to help me. I found washing my hair quite difficult in the first few days as lifting my arms was difficult. It was also great to get our Dental work done, so much cheaper than in the states. The dentist, Dr Roslan was recommended to us in back in America so we felt very confident. Again, on meeting him, we had no reservations and the treatment was fantastic. There is nothing I can criticise about our time in Malaysia, Health Horizon impressed us at every turn with their level of knowledge and service; they just go out of their way to assist to make it the best experience possible.
What HHH has to offer, in my opinion, is far superior to anything else that I have come across.
Liz and her team want what’s best for everyone, not only in the present but the future; you can see and feel it when you are with them. HHH offers so much more than any other “surgery holiday” companies. They have done the work, researched over and over to provide an outstanding service. From the moment you are met at the airport to the small things, like a hand phone not only to be able to keep in touch with HHH but with family members back home, how great is that?! At my largest I was 142kgs. I got down to 85 in 2003 then fell pregnant and thought I could eat all over again (big mistake). So up up up it went back to 125. I bought digital scales and seeing that number was enough for me to freak out. I immediately started dieting and over the course of 1 year and 2 months I got down to 82kg.
I looked great in clothes as long as they covered me from head to toe. I had lovely bat wings (skin off arms), huge legs (permanent fat that wouldn’t budge) and my boobs hung to my waist. I am not exaggerating when I say if I did housework my boobs fell out of my bra. They were empty lumps of skin, not breasts.

What can I say about HH & the ladies. I honestly cannot put into words how much the girls did for me. Firstly everything was planned meticulously. Things ran smoothly exactly as they had planned (from pick up at the airport to the operations)!!
The accommodation at Royale Bintang was great. A lovely hotel at a very affordable price. My manager Ann & staff, wow, they are like my sisters in Malaysia. I rang them all the time if I had any questions, they were always there to answer anything. It honestly felt like they cared, I was not just another client to them. We went for coffees, to dinner, to feed monkeys (yes, MONKEYS). My modem on my computer wasn’t working so they gave me the company wireless card (how many companies would do this) to use. Health Horizon's always gave me 100% service. They went way way beyond this.
In Malaysia I had a full tummy tuck, breast lift with implants, armlift & thigh/hip liposuction. Will I go back for more, you betcha, now planning to go back in 6 months for my thigh lift.
Did it hurt? Honestly NO. I had my surgery split into 2 (1st was the full tummy tuck and breasts) and I was up WALKING up and down the halls of the hospital the very next day. The second lot of surgery was done 2 days after my first surgery (armlift & liposuction) and I was released from hospital 2 days after that.
I had a gorgeous nurse come to clean me, help me shower (she even straightens hair)!
I honestly cannot say enough about my whole experience. Quality of care was fantastic in Malaysia, Dr Jalil, Oh my god, he doesn’t look like a doctor so be prepared, but he is FANTASTIC. He makes you feel comfortable immediately, simply unbelievable really.
Never felt nervous or scared because I was so confident in Dr Jalil & in everything the team at Health Horizons said. I knew when I was told something it was honest and real.

Breast Augmentation - Liposuction Suddenly without warning, I'm 40 and I just didn’t see it coming. I looked down at my poor battered and overworked body and realised I hadn't done anything to keep it fit and healthy. My three beautiful children were grown up and living their lives – what was I going to do? My husband; bless him, loves me as I am, but I didn't love me. So it was either do something about it or forever look in the mirror wishing to see someone else.
When I booked my flight to Kuala Lumpur I knew there was no turning back.
Not a seasoned traveller at all, I took some time to surf the net to see what the best price to Kuala Lumpur was. It was difficult to do so I looked for a travel agent. That was relatively easy and then it was all go from there.
I started to take a keen interest in Makeover shows on television and really wondered whether that stuff was as easy as it looked. So over a course of 8 months of research and endless emails I decided to make up a check list. It was an 'if' I decided to do any kind of cosmetic surgery, what would convince me to throw caution to the wind and do it?
So here's my list:
1. Safety: Will I be taken care of?
2. Specialist Profiles: Who will do it and how good is his / her work?
3. Cost Effective: How much will it cost anyway?
4. Communication: There are many overseas agents who can organise what you want but which one and will they really know what I want?
5. Realistic Expectations: Body sculpting versus Quick diet fix?
6. After care: What if something goes wrong?
So far I'd searched the net and found some reasonably priced Australian and Malaysian agents. At this stage you can tick off 2,3 & 5 above. But what about safety? Communication? Realistic expectations? What if something goes wrong?
I decided at this point to contact the local representative and she was great. I'd been emailing back and forward to a service manager in Malaysia but was finding it difficult as time went on to communicate due to the language barriers.
Unfortunately, after booking flights and confirming operation dates, the service manager I was dealing with resigned. At that point I was unsure whether to carry on. It was very frustrating after building a report with someone over the course of 6 months and then having to change to someone else. I got in touch with the local agent again. She understood where I was coming from so she put me in touch with another agent – Health Horizon. After viewing their website and emailing Liz, she was able to answer all the remaining questions on my check list. Within 2 weeks I was booked with the specialists I wanted; on the date that I wanted at an affordable price and assured that should anything go wrong I would be taken care of.
I met Mr Lo at KL airport and was whisked away to the hotel and there I met Liz who I immediately felt comfortable with and she booked me into my room.
The next day I met Ann who was also fantastic and then the famous Dr Jalil – cosmetic & burn specialist. I had a check list for him too. A CV can only say so much but if you are fortunate enough to meet this man – you know you are in good hands.
The following day, I met Dr Suib – vascular surgeon. Again, another specialist in his field. Both men were friendly and professional towards me. Ann was there to assist with booking in at the Hospital and organising payment for the surgery. Health Horizon ensures there are no hidden costs. What you are quoted is what you pay for.
Of course the easy part is lying on the surgery table. The day after surgery you can expect to be in pain and you do wonder why you did it. That's where its important that you bring someone with you for support. The hospital staff are fantastic. They really do take good care of you. Before you know it you are back in your hotel room and being looked after by a lovely retired Malay nurse that Health Horizon have organised for you.
Health Horizon really does think about the detail. If you are on your own, the staff are but a cell phone call away – they provide a cell phone for your use as well so you always know where you are going and when.
I spent the recommended 21 days in Kuala Lumpur. I just concentrated on recovering so I didn't even think about shopping or sightseeing until the third week. I had to set realistic expectations for myself because it's easy to overdo it and go shopping. So I took it easy and really looked after myself.
Health Horizon fulfilled all my expectations and more. Liz is a great person. Honest, caring, trustworthy and professional. A direct reflection of her is her staff. They are a happy professional team who work well together and go above and beyond to make your health experience in Kuala Lumpur the best thing you have ever done for yourself. But don't take my word for it, contact them yourself – you'll be glad you did.

Why did you choose to have your surgery overseas?
I chose to have surgery abroad for 2 major reasons; the cost and the privacy. Being able to relax and not think about work and home duties really appealed to me.

Extremely! The surgeon and hospital staff were brilliant, in the UK I have never seen the caring that I received in Malaysia. My surgeon always took his time and explained everything to me, I am truly grateful to everyone.

I stayed at the Grand Millennium and it was again, better than I expected. The staff seemed to understand I had surgery and were always willing to do extra. The facilities there are great, especially the spa and, of course everything is just outside my door. That was the best part, I could choose to have a coffee or do some shopping and when I got tired (AND I DID) I just walked back to my room and had a nap.
How did you find Malaysia as a destination?
Malaysia was really nice and the fact everyone spoke English made it so much easier, but I did find the taxi drivers always tried to get extra money but apart from that, very nice.
Would you recommend Health Horizon and if so, why?
Definitely, without a doubt. I tell my friends all the time, great people, great company, great surgeons, it’s just great.

Very warm and happy to get away from winter in New Zealand, lots of opportunity to shop when able to. Great meeting the homeland people.

Yes I would. I had very realistic expectations when I set out from New Zealand. I think Liz runs a very professional service and has staff that understand fully their responsibilities to the client. The price was affordable, the service provided impeccable and the calibre of the surgeons of a very high standard.
